Information regarding processing of Applications:
- The processing of the applications will be headed by Erasmus department coordinator for SDAC; Maria Bondes (maria.bondes@fau.de), students can contact her for any help regarding course selection and timetable.
- Students must also procure a learning agreement from the department coordinator and get it signed for recognition of their study abroad.
- For recognition of achievements from abroad and transfer of credits, students have to choose the courses as close as possible to the SDAC curriculum. This means that all fields of study that are taught in our program are eligible. For cases where you are not sure if the courses can be credited, please contact Maria Bondes (maria.bondes@fau.de).

Additional Information for Language and Intercultural Preparation:
FAU provides the following opportunities (optional but highly desirable) to assist the students going abroad for their timely and effective preparation. Students can benefit from intercultural training programs, and language courses that help them to acquire knowledge about how to deal with interdisciplinary content and cross cultural exchange.
Students can find intercultural training programs, e.g. of the Ziwi or also in the Language Center (can also be found via campo) through the following links:
- Intercultural Training programs: https://www.ziwis.fau.de/lehre/schluesselqualifikationen/#collapse_1
- Language Courses offered by FAU Language center:https://sz.fau.de/sprachkurse/
- Certificate of Intercultural Competence for students:https://www.ziwis.fau.de/zertifikat-interkulturelle-kompetenz-fuer-studierende-zertifikationsprogamm/
- Students can also benefit from the FAU Buddy program by finding and befriending fellow students who have Intercultural experience in relevant host countries. https://www.fau.de/education/international/aus-dem-ausland-an-die-fau/willkommensangebote-fuer-internationale-studierende/buddy-programm/
You also have the possibility to organize your semester abroad by yourself. However, you have to keep in mind that in many cases you will have to pay tuition fees (which SDAC cannot cover). In addition, you have to make sure that the requirements for the crediting of your grades from abroad are met (you have to complete the learning agreements yourself, clarify which courses you are allowed to attend). The process can be time-consuming and requires a lead time of about one year. Therefore, if you are interested in organizing your stay abroad, please contact our program coordinator (jessica.wengel@fau.de) first with your concrete plans (host university, institute, course selection, time of stay, etc.). This way we can check your requests to see if we can accredit your studies abroad.
Please note that for all alternatives, the course selection should be as close as possible to the SDAC curriculum. This means that all fields of study that are taught in our program are eligible. For cases where you are not sure if they count, please contact program coordinator Jessica (jessica.wengel@fau.de) first to discuss your options.
